Letterboxd

What comes in: the films you watched and your watchlist, with the date you added each film, every dated viewing from your diary (the first one as the watch, the others as rewatches), your ratings and review texts, the films pinned on your profile as favourites, and your own lists. Likes, tags, comments and other members’ lists aren’t imported.

  1. On Letterboxd, open Settings › Data and choose Export your data. Letterboxd sends you a ZIP archive.
  2. In Loomkeep, open Settings › Import › Letterboxd and drop the ZIP as it is, without unzipping it.
  3. Review and import: see how an import works.

Letterboxd’s export carries no catalogue ids, so films are matched by title and year. Check the uncertain ones in the review step, where any film can be searched and matched by hand.

A few things to know:

  • Ratings: half stars become Loomkeep’s 0–10 scale (★★★½ is 7). The rating your profile shows today wins over the one a diary entry kept.
  • Dates: only diary entries date a viewing. A film marked as watched without a diary entry comes in as watched, undated.
  • Reviews: the longest review of a film comes in as its review text, with your default review audience. A review you already wrote in Loomkeep stays as it is. Letterboxd lets you review without rating; Loomkeep doesn’t, so a review without stars is left out.
  • Lists: each of your lists becomes a Loomkeep list with the same name, description and order, and the notes you wrote on its films. Its films don’t join your library. A list you already have under that name is left alone.
  • Deleted content: the archive keeps what you deleted on Letterboxd, in its own folders. None of it comes back.
