Notifications
Loomkeep reaches you three ways:
- The bell, in the app. Opening an entry, or clearing them all, removes it.
- Push, on your phone or computer, even with the app closed. It is turned on per device, in Settings › Communications.
- Email, for what must reach you wherever you are, starting with anything about your account’s security.
What goes where is chosen in Settings › Communications. The tables below list every alert, generated from the same list the app sends from.
Activity
Section titled “Activity”What someone else did that concerns you. Everything lands in the bell, and you choose what also comes as a push. On a new account those pushes start off; accounts created before October 2026 had them all turned on.

Reactions and upvotes stay in the bell: a count going up isn’t worth a notification on your phone.
Episode, movie and game releases
Section titled “Episode, movie and game releases”Release reminders aren’t in the bell: the calendar and Up next already show them. Instead, a summary of what came out goes by email, by push, or both, weekly (Monday morning) or daily (in the evening, a premium feature to come).
For an upcoming movie, add it to your library, then choose Notify me on release in its sticky action bar. It joins the same summaries as new episodes. The reminder uses the first cinema release in your country, or digital when no cinema release is announced. Without a local date, the reminder waits for one to be confirmed.
An upcoming game works the same way, from My tracking on its page. Its reminder goes off on the release day, or on the 1st of the month when only the month is announced. A game dated to a quarter, a year or not dated yet can still have its reminder on: it goes off once the release is dated to a day or a month.
With neither summary turned on, there is nothing to deliver a reminder through: the release reminders and a show’s Mute release alerts stay greyed out until the email or push summary is on in Settings › Communications.

On a self-hosted instance
Section titled “On a self-hosted instance”Email and push depend on how the instance is set up: without an SMTP server, no email goes out, and without push keys, no push. The bell always works. See Email and push.
